Brian Aris

Brian Aris started out as a photojournalist. He covered The Troubles, the exile of Palestinians in Jordan, civil conflict in Lebanon, famine and war in Africa and Vietnam. Perhaps he would've continued in that vein, were it not for a chance meeting in '76 with a young Paula Yates, who wanted to be a model, and her then boyfriend Bob Geldof. Inspired, Aris decided to change direction and become a photographer of fashion models, soon branching out into all avenues of celebrity.

Aris' work has a lot of range. He can handle a classy studio portrait as much as anyone, but he also excels in capturing intimate details a less subtle photographer would miss. His experiences in photojournalism taught him the vital importance of capturing a moment that won't come again. His snap of Ronnie Woods and Mick Jagger in Paris is a perfect example - action and attitude, lightning in a bottle.

Sonic Editions is proud to present a curated collection of Brian's best work. Our prints are limited-edition, gallery-grade, and endlessly collectable.
