For over 30 years, Tighe photographed a veritable who's who of the New York art world: actors Jack Nicholson, River Phoenix, Sean Penn, actresses Julia Roberts, Milla Jovovich, Michelle Pfeiffer, Carrie Fisher, famed author and editor Helen Gurley Brown and Spike Lee, beat poet Allen Ginsberg, designers Bill Blass and Ralph Lauren, artist Andy Warhol, ... He was soon shooting regularly for Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine where his career took off. Leading to more magazine work with GQ, Harpers Bazaar, Vogue and some lucrative fashion work through the 1970s.
